A Look at the US President’s Speech at the 2025 United Nations General Assembly

As usual, every September since its founding, most world leaders gather for a general assembly to discuss their countries and certain global problems. The United Nations General Assembly is always held at its headquarters in New York. In fact, Mr. Trump, a native New Yorker and businessman, knows a little about how this organization works, that's why we cannot take lightly his words about the said organization.

For some time, I have armed myself with courage, perhaps the first, to raise my voice that the United Nations has not solved and will not solve anything. However, we need a leader of great caliber to raise the problem so that it is understood by right-thinking people. In terms of peace, famine, disease, etc., the United Nations has not solved anything, moreover the way it was founded is the salient fact that it would not address the problems of the wretch.

On September 23, 2025, President Trump delivered a speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Given the presence of these great leaders who are to speak, such a general assembly was described as high-level. Therefore, I chose to focus my reflection on President Trump's speech, as I just said, he is the president of the world's largest economy, a businessman by birth from the city where the UN headquarters is located, in fact, he knows what he says about the said organization.

The president unleashed his stream of words and launched them against the organization in question, it seems, after being the target of an escalator breakdown. However, in a post, he also spoke about teleprompter and sound system problems. What catches my attention is that during his speech, he stated that he had made a bid for the construction or renovation of the UN headquarters in New York, however, it was rejected even though his bid was considerably lower than that of the organization that won the contract.

The undeniable fact of this is that the organization of the then businessman, in this case, Mr. Trump, was ready to fashion the headquarters with marble, however his bid was rejected, therefore, the question that must be asked: Is the UN a corrupt organization? Further in his narrative speech, the president, after boasting for too long about resolving the conflicts that plagued this world, pointed out that the UN has never done anything to resolve the conflicts of this world, and wondered why the said organization had not sought to join him in his benevolent initiatives.

Bravo president, for your actions which tend to relieve the wound of this sick world, you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, and everyone stands up to applaud you, but do not forget that well-founded peace begins at home. Why do you go to the most distant parts of your home to bring peace when at your feet and under your feet conflicts and turbulence are raging? As your peace train passes, peacemaker be you, do not forget Haiti which is under your feet. It is still early, we are still resisting, but be careful that the weight of your feet does not strangle us.

President Trump has always had the courage to urge countries to see themselves first, such urging comes from the principle that charity begins at home, and that is right. But what is happening that makes the president want Europe mainly to close its doors to immigrants? Does the UN also play a role in destabilizing Europe with illegal immigration as Mr. Trump has clearly stated that the said organization has greatly helped immigrants enter his country illegally? Perhaps immigration has contributed to the economic progress of these countries.

International mobility, international immigration, and globalization in a narrow sense have never been so threatened. The UN is a false prophet or predictor, that is why Mr. Trump was able to urge countries, especially large countries, to return to the class of departure, because, according to him, fossil fuels are beneficial than renewable energies. Although this story of energy transition is a source of corruption in many countries, we could never believe that this statement would come out of someone's mouth.

While a small group with a sense of responsibility promotes a better world, barons stand in the way and undermine their works. If the greats of this world do not show responsibility and kindness, who will do it for them? Alas, the world is going backwards, and its future has never been compromised. One thing is certain, the consequences may linger, but like God's word, they will surely come. Mr. President, when your relief train passes, do not forget those who are under your feet, they have difficulty breathing, and a moment longer they will choke.
